What is ERIC?

ERIC - Education Resources Information Center - is a digital library of education research sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences (U.S. Dept. of Education). Its contents includes full-text or abstracts for journal articles, research syntheses, conference papers, technical reports, dissertations, and policy papers.

PubMed is a database of the National Institute of Health and U.S. National Library of Medicine. You can:

  • use simple or advanced searching
  • keyword or Medical Subject Headings (MeSH)
  • create an account for saving articles or creating alerts
  • search Medline's abstracts and citations

Click on Simple Search to watch the video and complete the exercise.

Google Scholar is not a database. It's a search engine (Google) that targets scholarly or educational resources. This means it can find articles not listed in our databases like:

  • Open access journals
  • Abstracts on journal websites (use interlibrary loan if we do not carry the article)

However, it also will find non-scholarly sources like:

  • Dissertations & capstone projects
  • Student electronic portfolios
  • White papers and preprint
  • Reports

 Library staff are available Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
