Graduate Writing Support Coaches

NMC offers writing coach services to our graduate doctoral and master's students. Coaches are more than proofreaders; they help with all stages of your writing process. They help with drafting: designing and developing a clear objective, organizing and presenting research in the literature review, considering expectations for methodology and findings, organizing discussion material, and presenting conclusions. The coach can also offer revision suggestions that focus on clarity of the message, appropriateness of the format or structure, or even improvement of aspects of paraphrasing and summarizing existing research. One of our coaches provides direct support for very specific questions and proofing you may need for your APA-related questions.

Doctoral Program Coach

Mary Lamothe, PhD., earned a doctorate in English Language and Literature at Fordham University, and she holds master’s degrees in both English and education. In addition to teaching scientific and empirical writing to graduate students in health sciences, Dr. Lamothe edits and reviews academic health science and social sciences articles for publication in international, peer-reviewed journals. Dr. L is excited to work with NMC graduate students as they develop their academic and professional writing.

Master's Program Coach

Frankie Ward has an MS in physiology and biomechanics, an MA in English, and an MFA in creative nonfiction. He works as an adjunct instructor of English at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Nebraska Methodist College, College of Saint Mary, and as a writing center consultant at Metropolitan Community College.
