Graduate Writing Support Coaches

NMC offers writing coach services to our graduate doctoral and master's students. Coaches are more than proofreaders; they help with all stages of your writing process. They help with drafting: designing and developing a clear objective, organizing and presenting research in the literature review, considering expectations for methodology and findings, organizing discussion material, and presenting conclusions. The coach can also offer revision suggestions that focus on clarity of the message, appropriateness of the format or structure, or even improvement of aspects of paraphrasing and summarizing existing research. One of our coaches provides direct support for very specific questions and proofing you may need for your APA-related questions.

The coaches work as a team to support graduate writing student needs. You will work with one of the following coaches (alphabetical order):

Mary Lamothe, Ph.D., earned a doctorate in English Language and Literature at Fordham University, and she holds master’s degrees in both English and education. In addition to teaching scientific and empirical writing to graduate students in health sciences, Dr. Lamothe edits and reviews academic health science and social sciences articles for publication in international, peer-reviewed journals. Dr. L is excited to work with NMC graduate students as they develop their academic and professional writing.

Marlin Schaich, Ph.D., earned a master's a doctorate degree in English from the University of Kansas.
