Certified Nurse Aide Mentorship Pilot ProgramBROGDON, Jack. (2023). The purpose of this project was to determine the effect a 14-day certified nurse aide mentorship pilot program had on job satisfaction, perceived communication, and perceived importance and understanding of job tasks. A post-questionnaire, available in English and Spanish, was developed using a five-point Likert scale specifically for the mentorship pilot program. Newly hired, within the prior six months, certified nurse aides (N = 6) participated in the mentorship pilot program and completed the post-questionnaire. Results showed participants scoring the three areas of job satisfaction, perceived communication, and perceived importance and understanding of job tasks as strongly agree or agree. Job satisfaction was scored as strongly agree (99%) and agree (1%), (M = 4.96, SD = 0.102). Perceived communication was scored as strongly agree (97%) and agree (3%), (M = 4.83, SD = 0.408). The final category of perceived importance and understanding of job tasks was scored 100% strongly agree (M = 5, SD = 0). In conclusion, the project provided positive results that a certified nurse aide mentorship pilot program may be effective in job satisfaction, perceived communication, and perceived importance and understanding of job tasks. For sustainability, the project would need to be implemented on a permanent basis to achieve similar results. Further studies may consider a longer study period, larger sample size, pre- and post-questionnaire for both mentees and mentors, measurement of turnover rates amongst mentees, and pre- and post- questionnaire on patient satisfaction. A mentorship program is suggested to spread across all departments at the current location or even other facilities within the organization.
